Of course we don't want sick pilots flying hundred's of people around. And when I mention standby pilots - in the service industry I'm in, we always have a backup driver because people depend on us. If someone runs out of fuel at their house, do we say too bad we can't deliver because our driver is sick. Of course not - we have a backup driver on the schedule.
