Thumbs down They could try to be honest in their pricing

BA dishonest pricing
We recently booked a return flight with BA to Majorca. The return flight was not with BA despite our contract being with them - it was with Iberia. BA offer 48 hour free checkin and it is not clear in their policies when you book with them that you may have to make additional payments on your return with Iberia to be able to get seats for you to sit with your family.
On the way out you can book your seats, free in advance - but despite the high premium you pay to book with BA they are not clear either in their My Booking information or on their page stating "Will I pay extra for my seats" that in fact yes you will - and quite a lot! Iberia are also not clear about their pricing (mainly because you cannot access this detail until 24 hours before you are due to return home) but in fact you will be charged EUR15 for each pre-booked seat, and more at the airport if you do not pre-book but get to the airport and find you and your young children can not sit together - at that point it will be approx EUR30 each. Add that cost onto your holiday and then are you pleased you booked with BA for the service they promise but then do not deliver? When we challenged them about this they told us it was Iberias responsibility and would not accept that our legal contract for service was with them. In fact, despite our comments that they had not provided the service they had advertise, nor that we had paid for, they told us to go away and they would not comment further. For a British institution this was shocking. So, use them at your cost peril as they do not have a clear nor fair pricing policy (contravening the Consumer Protection fro Unfair Trading Act 2008 - "misleading omissions") and despite us pointing this out they refused to reimburse us and did not even bother responding. CAA need to address this inertia selling and promote a clear and fair pricing policy - in the interim, choose an airline that is transparent in their pricing otherwise for a family of four flying with BA you may need to add at least £100 to your budget in your attempt to get home safely as a family sitting near each other on a plane. Absolute con.
