Default Etihad Guest – Less miles credited as per commitment in promotional email in respect

I am an Etihad Guest Member who got his Citi Bank Credit Card points converted to Etihad Miles and is deeply regretting the same.

Etihad Guest sent me a promotional email in November 2015, stating that I can convert miles from popular programs including Citibank where 1 Citibank Credit Card Point was equivalent to 1 Etihad Mile with an added 25% bonus miles on or before 31st December 2015. Being a Citibank Credit Card holder, on the basis of this email, I requested for my Citi Bank Credit Card points to be converted to Etihad Miles

On viewing my subsequent Eithad miles statement, I was shocked and surprised to observe that only 50% miles, which was exactly half of the Citibank points held by me were credited to my Etihad mileage account in place and stead of 100% credit and 25% bonus points as applicable.

From December 2015, I have been repeatedly corresponding with Etihad Guest Services to credit the balance 50% miles to my Etihad Membership Account. However their response to my communications was very poor, all the while they have been informing me that they are looking into my concerns, internal processes are involved and it will take time to resolve etc.

It took them almost eight months to send me an email now in which they state that in the Citibank Website it is stated “Get 1 Frequent Flyer Air Mile for every 2 Miles” when you transfer on Etihad Airways. This is absolutely ridiculous given the fact that they sent me a promotional email which reflected “CITIBANK CITI MILES STARTING AT 1 POINT TO 1 MILE”.

Now for them to turn round and inform me what is mentioned on the Citibank website is absurd and ridiculous. Etihad Guest Services has failed to understand that I had not placed my credit card point conversion request on the basis of a Citibank promotional email, rather my request was given on the basis of promotional email received by me from Etihad Guest Services

My above bitter experience with Etihad Guest Services has made me believe that they are only cheating and sending bogus promotion emails to Etihad Guest members. Further it is an airlines that is not living up to its commitments to its frequent flyers.
