Unfortunately, the only criteria Southwest uses in determining preboarding eligibility are Customers with a disability 1) who have a specific seating need or 2) who need assistance in boarding. It sounds like an Agent gave you some misinformation with regards to preboarding. Age Verification (through Rapid Rewards) can be accomplished by calling Customer Relations. Once complete, you mother-in-law will be able to checkin online for eligibility-based fares such as the Senior Fare.
