Hi there,
This all comes down to the type of ticket you puchased. I understand human error, and am really sorry this has happened to you, however in most occasions, there is a fee for changes, unless you have purchased a fully flexible ticket (Costly at times) and in this regard, It comes down to who would pay the change fee?
Etihad of course will refuse citing passenger booked passenger problem, however if you were willing to pay the change fee, then they may be a little more lenient. Having checked fare rules for your ticket, unfortunately your ticket cannot be changed atall, not even for a fee. This poses a problem for you, as it does not give you the leniency I was talking about earlier.
I do work for an airline in Etihad's part of the world, and am aware that at times the middle eastern carriers can be alot more strict in regards to fare rules on tickets, and changes are done in the most part only in extreme circumstances, however it doesnt hurt to try.
I do hope you get this sorted out and that you find that solution asap, I would be intrigued as to the outcome
