I've got to agree with Jim on this one - you are a little too vague here. I can tell you that at AirTran, the redcoats are NOT supervisors. They are lead agents. Kind of an in between. They are directly in charge of the agents, however there are situations that a supervisor or manager must get involved.

I also question about letting the family on before you. That is, how do you know their situation? Were they standby? Were they confirmed and boarded last?

I will say that they should not be eating at the gate, nor should they have touched you, however (again) you are pretty vague here. As for the grammar, this is just Atlanta. I've run into this with several airlines there, hotels, restaurants, etc. The south is known for southern charm, but Atlanta is kind of a hole in that.
