I agree with Leatherboy. I have had an overweight person sitting next to me and it is not pleasant. I do not want them taking up half of my seat as well.
There are seat belt extenders on planes. They have a label that states it is approved by the Federal Aviation Administration - Technical Standard Order. In short....FAA-TSO.
