If your GPS unit was so important to you why wasn't is insured? Couldn't it have been just as easily stolen from your vehicle?

What bailout are you speaking of? Back in 2001?
As an engineer there is so much stuff I travel with that I have to check Tools and a lot of stuff I would prefer to keep with me. I did not insure the GPS because I did not anticipate it being stolen by airline personnel. When I use my GPS in a car it always stays with me. In the 8 months I owned that GPS it was always in my care. How dare you insult me by making this out that I did not do enough to insure the GPS. When I am forced to check my bags due to the nature of the content, When I am forced to check my bags due to limitations on carry ons, When I am forced to pay baggage and excess baggage fees and overweight baggage fees I should be able to hold airlines accountable. I can prove I owned that GPS and the SN and have emails proving I had just bought 69.00 worth of map updates two weeks before the theft. I am not a crook. I pay my way through life with hard work and being stuck on airplanes with crabby stews and late flights and lost baggage and now stolen property.

How dare you suggest that anyone should be happy to be ripped off of 500.00 be it GPS or cash and get a 150.00 voucher that the person will never use. If it is you that is providing me with the 500,00 I am out then you might have some rights to address this with me. Other wise you should stay out of issue you have no financial stake in.

I was actually speaking of the bailout that United wanted prior to filing bankruptcy when three years ago?? The judge should have sold off the airline and paidd off the creditors and original stock holders.
