Just from all the statistics I have read from the US Department of Transportation on that airline I wont fly them. They ranked one of the worst US Carriers for ontime arrivals. They also use very old aircraft which are outdated, and I feel could be dangerous. I feel American Airlines ripped you off like a sucker at a used car lot. If you would have booked the flight through Expedia or Travelocity, would they be responsible for American's old flying junk breaking down? No. It would be American Airlines fault. Read your terms and conditions in your ticket agreement. I bet if what everything you said is true, then you would probably had a good chance in small claims court.
