The eticket did say the flight was operated by American, which is why I was very confused when I called American to book by seat and also asked them to confirm it was American that I checked in with, and they said no it was Alaska. The problem is that my local airport is huge and American is on one end and Alaska is on the other. I was trying to avoid getting dropped off at the taxi at one terminal, then having to hassle with the shuttle bus to get over to the other one if I was at the wrong one.
