Default Air Canada Duplicate charged me ...

May 6th I purchased 4 tickets online for Air Canada…each ticket was $743.51, total $2974.04.

A debit immediately appeared in my account from Air Canada for the above amount…$2,974.04

On May 8th, 4 additional line items appeared on my bank account from Air Canada, each in the amount of $765.82. this transaction caused my account to be overdrawn…I immediately added funds from my money market account to cover this duplicate charge from Air Canada.

After several calls to Air Canada, I was told to write a letter & send it to their investigation dept.(have never heard from them) I was also told to send an email to their refund service dept...that there was nothing the reservations folks could do.

May 13 I sent an email to refund services…

On May 15 I was told that I needed to fax to them a copy of my checking account…, something I was reluctant to do for privacy/fraud issues , but it was the only way Air Canada would work with me so I did it.

On May 19th I emailed refund services to check the status.

On May 20th they emailed me back stating that they needed me to fax to them the ticket numbers , even though I provided the booking number on the very first correspondence. They also wanted a copy of my original email to accompany the fax, May 13th I believe.

On May 21st I received a email from a Sandi(no last name) stating that “my claim has been received. Please all four to six weeks for review of your claim”.

Today is July 7, 2008 & I’ve not heard anything from Air Canada , nor have I received the refund for $89.24

Summary: in my opinion this is a classic case of “bate and switch”…ie FRAUD.
They advertised one price & charged my account another, while in the process duplicate charged me & almost caused my account to be overdrawn.

I doubt that you guys will do anything about this….normal procedure kind of thing…

But since this is taking more of my time than its worth, I am doing it for ALL the customers that Air Canada overcharged , and those customers did nothing about it because it wasn’t worth the time.
Air Canada are crooks, in my opinion & should be dealt with accordingly.
