Thumbs down Bad gate agent and my carry-on

As I was boarding my flight I noticed an argument between an United gate employee, Ms. Linate, and my wife.
Ms. Linate told her she was limited to one carry-on and one personal item and she had two carry-on items and one will need to be checked. My wife then pointed out she was holding the back for one of our two young daughters. Not satisfied Ms. Linate then told her that the carry-on item was too larger to fit in the overhead bin and that it will need to be checked. That’s when I got up to my family to see what Ms. Linate was talking about. Funny, our bags fit in the overhead bin just fine on the outbound flight. Did the plane shrink since we left? Ms. Linate made us wait at the gate as other passengers were allowed to board the plane. I kept pointing out that other bags were allowed on the plane that were much larger than ours.
Now we are not talking about one of United's Embraer EMB 120 Brasilia puddle jumpers or a Canadair Regional Jet, this was a full sized aircraft and the agent Ms. Linate was completely and utterly out of line and Ms. Linate should be dealt with accordingly.

Did your conversation with the agent delay the boarding process for other passengers?

Arrow no delay

No, as the agent pulled our family aside the other passengers boarded

"Ms. Linate made us wait at the gate as other passengers were allowed to board the plane. I kept pointing out that other bags were allowed on the plane that were much larger than ours".

She finally realized she was wrong and we were able to board the plane WITH OUR BAGS. We had no issues on the 2 leg outbound flight and only on the second leg of our return with this agent.

Thanks

Airline staff have power, but insufficient intellect to know how to use it. This is another example. What really bugged this staff member was that she thought she had caught you trying to take on more than two items. When it was pointed out that one item belonged to your child, she abused her power to try and show you that she should not be disobeyed. They are morons and are simply too stupid to know how to use the power they have.
