I had to sit on a flight two days ago from Miami to chigago with my two children with three TVs in front (we were in a bulk seat with a full plane) displaying a show where women were beaten, men cut themselves, naked men killed others and american did not do anything about it. They say NBC pays them so they cannot shut it off even if it is innapropriate. All parents and other adults agreed with me, yet they said there was nothing they could do! I find this outrageous, They told us to look down the entire flight!

What do you do at home when these NBC shows come on? Change the channel? Turn it off? You can do the same onboard.
All parents and other adults agreed with you? I'm thinking that's about 150 people in a 737 (survey form, show of hands, yeah or nay?) - maybe they were agreeing with you because they were stuck on an airplane and didn't want to agitate the crazy person. I'm no psychiatrist but I'm certain any child can survive and grow up well adjusted after being exposed to network TV shows - millions have before your kids, I suspect millions will after. |

well, we actually interact so much as a family that my kids are not numb to seeing people being killed on TV like it sounds yours are. The tv obviously cannot be turned off or change a channel it was not a personal one, otherwise there would be no issue.
It is one shared by the section of the plane. And not 150 people, 18 in my section of the plane, but really why are you even in here? go watch these programs. and if you are 5 seated on front of a tv interacting on a straight line, it is very difficult. It really shows kids have done a good job in this country but "getting used to it" as another poster suggests taking guns and kiling others. Great solution instead of the popultaion requiring that when a tv is forced upon you on a plane, which precisely you cannot turn off which is what i asked for, what is shown is notthat level of violence . Great alternatives you two! passively feed your children garbage. I will stand up for mine. |

Well ole' Burgers travels extensively. 15 franchise restaurants of very familiar burger chain. A vacation home in Aruba. If you must know, son is a orthopedic physician, daughter is a attorney practicing international law.
Possess a PPL and own a Beechcraft Baron. Perhaps its you that needs to get your kids from out of the fuzzy blanket and expose them to the real world or maybe you are simply a prude - not terribly educated based on your written skills. |

When I travel for business (and even on the rare time for pleasure. I am so sick of paying my fare and having to have everything kid friendly.
If I get a free moment from paperwork I might be doing on the plane, I don't want to get stuck watching some G-Rate family friendly video. I have enjoyed being able to catch up on some of the new shows on NBC on the planes (in Oct. on a flight I was able to see a segment of Blacklist and found out I really liked the show and ended up DVR'ing it when I got home). NBC marketing worked on that flight and they gained at least one viewer for their show. Had I not had the chance to see it on the plane I probably would never have watched it. So like someone suggested if you don't want your kiddo's to watch what might be playing on plane bring a portable dvd player, Ipad or any of the other devices out there that play movies you choose and for the love of all things put ear phones on the kid, many of us don't want to hear what your kid is watching nor listen to the sound that his/her game has. |
