So I had a reservation from Omaha to Washington DC. I had to change planes at Chicago.. had a one hour layover time. Unfortunately, the flight from Omaha could not take off on time. The reason given to us was that there was a Bird hit while the flight was coming into the Omaha airport and that they could not take of till the safety of the flight could be asserted. So we waited. Meanwhile, the attended told us that we'd probably miss our connecting flight but because the delay was due to the mechanical failure, they'd give us a hotel for the night and would put us in the first flight next morning.(this was a late evening flight) Else we'd have to wait for the 1 PM flight from Omaha to DC. Because the hotel option was given I opted to go ahead and wait for the early flight from Chicago.

We arrived at Chicago and as expected the connecting flight had.already taken off.
So we went to the attendant and told explained to her the situation. She said they couldn't provide us the hotel as the delay was due to air traffic control and.not due to.their mechanical failure!

It was shocking to see them lie with a.straight face! If they weren't going to give us the hotel why promise in the first place?! I'd have taken the 1PM flight from Omaha rather than being stranded in the airport all night.

Cheap tricks to save a few bucks! But ruined the image I had for the airline!
