AirAsia is terrible.
I'm a New Zealand pensioner. In July this year I have bought, on a booking site, return trip Auckland-KualaLumpur-Saigon. The first surprise came when instead of Kuala Lumpur we flew to Gold Coast, Australia. There was no mention of it in my itinerary, or anywhere else in my booking. When I arrived to Saigon I discovered that my external hard drive stopped working. I was told at the repair shop that it had been dropped. Two weeks ago, when I tried to check in my 10kg bag in Saigon at AirAsia counter, they demanded additional US $90 claiming that I had only paid for my luggage one way! In fact, I booked the whole trip at once. After hours of waiting at AirAsia service counters at Saigon airport, Kuala Lumpur airport and at their Head Office in Kuala Lumpur, I was told the same thing everywhere, namely, that according to THEIR database they were right. They refused to trace my original booking, or use common sense. I had to take my bag into the plane and had a lot of additional inconvenience at the security checkpoints in Saigon, Kuala Lumpur and Gold Coast. My scissors and knife were confiscated. When AirAsia airplane takes off all the attendants are busy for the next two hours serving pre-booked meals and drinks. I couldn't get any drinking water for more than an hour (in order to take medicine) on Kuala Lumpur - Gold Coast flight, despite asking several times.
