Thai Air Flight Cancelled - now we're screwed.
We had our flight arrangments made nearly 1 year in advance to fly using miles transfered from American Express to Aeroplan. There's 5 of us traveling, including a 7 month old infant, so we were careful to book the bulkhead seats, etc. When Thai Air cancelled their flight indefinitely 6 months before the flight, aircanda provided us with an alternative flight with not 1 but 2, 10 hour lay overs! They were extremely rude, refused to transfer our miles back to American Express despite AMEX's request for just that. They also would not book us on a partner airline's flight (Swiss Air) which was available on Expedia, but not through their miles program apparently. The swiss air flight is the next best flight, a mere 4 hours longer than our original flight. The only option is for us to either take the 40 hour total travel time flight or cancel the trip and hopefully we can still use our miles at another time. On top of all of this, everyone I spoke with at Aircanada was incredibly rude, even the managers. This is in sharp contrast with 1 year ago when I flew with Aircanada.
