Unhappy Delta Sucks

I recently purchaced a $650.00 ticket from anchorage to Salt Lake City To see the birth of my grandchild. I asked when I purchaced the ticket if I would be able to change date in the event that she went into labor early, the agent said no problem, it will cost $100.00 if there is a seat available. My daughter had a medical emergency, and I had to adjust my itenerary. Guess what, DELTA charged me $920.00 EXTRA. Thats right an extra $920.00. They would not budge. I told them that I was told it would cost $100.00, they said that is not the case, & I am out of luck... They hit me with a new price of over $1,560.... I hate DELTA

It sounds like you got hit with one of those "different class of service" deals, where if you are sitting in a lower seat class, if the same class isn't available to you on the day you wanna change, you could end up paying more. You did say the guy said "any seat" but by any seat, I am not sure that is what he meant, though I'm not to clear on the specifics of the seat class, i believe that's the jist of it. You gotta be careful of that on any airline. Though some are more courteous in the case of emergency travel. I'm surprised, usually Delta is quite good with that. (But again I am a United fan)

Thanks for the reply.. I also asked Delta, if I could transfer the first ticket to my daughter, so she could join me to see my other daughter, and then I would just purchase me a new ticket leaving earlier, they said NO WAY! They would not budge. It really disgusts me. I know that they could have accommodated me as I work for Northwest Airlines (aka Northworst), so I know that we are able to give a break if we want to. They treat their employees just as bad as they treat the customers, actually worse. That is why the airline agents are such *******s, because they keep losing benefits, pay etc... It makes for angry employees and then the **** runs down hill..

in this case due to the hospitalization of an immediate family member delta should have waived the $100 charge and only charged you for the difference in fare. but you would have needed to have a doctors not and all of that good stuff.
