Default Thrown in a police car

I checked in for a 6:45 flight with my 10 year old son on 12/28. I was 4 hours early. I had rebooked due to bad weather the previous day. We were travelling first class and waited in the Crown Room for our flight. We showed up for boarding at 6:15 and saw on the board that the flight had been delayed and would take off at 7:17. We went back to the Crown Room where they scanned our passes again and waited until 6:45. We arrived at the gat at 6:50 and found the place aboandoned except for several dismayed passengers. Some bystanders said our flight had been moved. The board now showed the flight leaveing at 7:10. We tried to find and employee to help. Finally a tio of women emerged having a personal conversation - whooping it up and literally turning their backs to the waiting passengers. When I asked them to stop the conversation and deal with us, one employee said snidley that our plane had left. I asked if she had announced that the plane was leaving early or if she had notified the Crown Room, and she sneered back that she never calls the Crown Room and said we should have been there earlier because it was a maintenance problem and it was solved early. I demanded to speak to a supervisor and she said F--you get out of my face. I'm not going to do anything for you." I went to another counter and asked the attendant to call a supervisor to our gate. I was told to go back to the gate and a supervisor would meet me there. When I returned to the gate, the attendent got on the phone, called the Atlanta police and told them that I hit her in the face. (which I did not) The supervisor and the police showed up, threw my son and I in a police car, refunded our ticket, and dumped us on a sidewalk at 10PM with no way to get home. It took us two planes and three days to get back to LA during holiday travel. We still don't have our luggage. I am considering filing charges against the woman for false accusations to the police. This is a crime apparently. Any suggestions on how I should deal with this? My son is mortified and depressed after being locked in a police car. I feel I need to do something to stop the airlines from having indiscrimate power over customers (first class ones) that they don't want to deal with. Thanks for any suggestions.

Ask the airport if they have any CCTV footage of the incident to which you are referring. If so, you may then be able to file charges of wasting police time against the employee. That would be a significant victory against the Deltanazi's. However, I would have to say that your account seems a bit sanitized... there has to have been more to this for the actions to be so extreme.

Default Police Car

Evidently, my story seems sanitized. Well it isn't. I was angry yes, and demanded to speak to a supervisor yes, but every word of this is true. I am requesting footage and will press charges against the Delta employee. I would like her to take a ride in a police car. Take a look at the Muslim Family on Air Trans who were treated in a similar fashion. Hard to believe, but seems to be true.

Why did you leave the gate area to begin with? Posted delays can and do change. They are basically estimates. Initially they thought the delay might be 22 minutes but apparently they were able to fix the problem sooner and more or less depart on-time. Personally for such a short delay I wouldn't have gone back to the Crown Room but had the delay been longer I would have notified the gate agent that I would be in the Crown Room in case the posted departure time changed so they could call the Crown Room to announce boarding.

Also, if you have access to the Crown Room why didn't you just return there to be re-booked? Once you found out the flight had departed there was no point to arguing with the gate agent and demanding a supervisor. The agents in the Crown Room are infinitely more helpful than the frontline agents. Had you just kept your cool and let the Crown Room take care of your re-booking you could have avoided the whole mess.

Not to go too off-topic here, but didn't Hamas send rockets into Israel first?

And yes - I noticed your typo. Too bad there's only a 5 minute window to correct such errors.

Did you reply to the wrong thread? I thought the muslim issue was with the woman in the exit row?

Hamas has not killed 400 and counting, don't care for either side though world would be better without either and this is correct thread leeandbeau mentions the family removed from Airtran in one of their replies

I wasn't aware that leeandbeau had issues on AirTran. It wasn't mentioned here so I did not think it was an issue.

To be totally politically incorrect, the homemade rockets launched by Hamas pale in comparison to the weapons in Israel's arsenal. It's really overkill and I hope the situation is resolved soon. But the fact remains that Hamas picked this fight and they have to deal with the circumstances. David is not always the victor over Goliath.

Default Advocating discrimination???

Leatherboy: Once you start something like this, there's no stopping it. Already, the man everyone once knew as Cat Stevens is now banned from entering this country apparently because he is guilty of nothing more than converting to the Islamic faith. Several years ago, some American Air flight attendants burned pillows and blankets used by passengers attending a gay rights rally in Washington. Nothing ever happened to these employees. What is to prevent a US-based airline from refusing to transport two males, who are perceived to be gay, because of the gate agent's; captain's; or a flight attendant's belief that they will be exposed to AIDS?? To my knowledge, no US-based airline has EVER been subjected to a significant fine because of discriminatory behavior. If someone perceived to be Islamic, or someone wearing a turban, clears security and otherwise complies with all rules applicable to other passengers then that person should be transported. I am NOT a Muslim. However, I've lived long enough to know that there is no such thing as discrimination being confined to one group.

This thread is getting off topic and it started when leandbeau mentioned the muslim stopped by airTran. It's not the same situation and shouldn't have been mentioned as the two problems are totally different. Their situation started when other passengers turned them in to the airline and that lead to their detaining. Leeandbeau's situation started when he hung out in the crowne room rather than wait at the gate for any updates. I've been there and it's not pleasant getting left behind like that, but getting angry to the point where the police are called in, well it's pointless.

Get your facts straight. He was not banned for merely converting to Islam. He made significant financial contributions to an Islamic organization which was linked to terrorism.

Butch, actually the flight attendants on American didn't burn the pillows and blankets after they flight(which was in 1993 following the March on Washington), they demanded them removed. Following complaints by the Human Rights Campaign and several other GLBT groups(I was rep for ACT OUT Illinois) the employees in question were given senseativiy training and now AA is a huge supportor of our community.

Are you serious? These so called "ghetto women" and "hoodrats" are some of the hardest working, most dependable people I know. Before you all go freaking out saying how much airline employees suck and can't get a bag to where it belongs to save their life, remember I said, "some" of the best people I know. Comments and people like this need to take their hate somewhere else.
