United nightmare
My original flight with united was cancelled, due to the crew not showing up. I contacted united, and asked for a guaranteed seat for a flight within the week, and they rebooked me for 5 days later, due to the flights being full before that. They informed me, that they were unable to assign a seat in Dulles, where I was connecting, because 'Dulles assigns all seats' but yes, i was guaranteed to have one.
I called again, just to verify this info, and yes, they said the same thing as the first agent. I fly into Dulles to find that I did NOT have a seat, and was told by the person at the gate that 'they lied'. I was told to stand in customer service to rebook. This line was a minimum of 150 people deep, and one person at the desk. I stood in that line for 2 hours, and it never moved. Managed to find an employee who informed me that even if I stand in line, i will NOT get an assigned seat on any plane, that I would have to hope for the best, and that I may as well plan on being there a few days!
My husband drove from montreal to washington dc (12 hour drive one way) to pick me up and take me back to montreal.
Of course, there's no getting thru to United. I spent 4 hours on the phone with their reps in India, who of course, are unable to do a thing for you, and who I had a very hard time communicating with.
Emails have gone unanswered.... Steer clear of United. I don't mind that they overbook, all of them do. I DO mind that they lie to people about it. I consider that fraud!
