Obtaining and possessing the proper documents for your travel (passports/visas) is entirely your responsibility and not the airline's or travel agency's. As long as an itinerary is a valid routing for a particular fare the airline or agency can sell it to you. When you book online they don't ask for your nationality and what passport(s), residencies, visas etc. you hold and then only display itineraries that are valid for your particular situation. Again it's up to you to determine where you can transit without a visa and when you must obtain one to do so.

Expedia should be able to change your itinerary so that you only have one stop in Europe and can transit without obtaining a visa. They will, however, charge a fee to do this as well as adjust the fare and charge you the difference. Sorry but unless you can get the necessary visa changing the ticket and paying the fees/additional fare is the only way to go.

I'm sorry to hear you are having difficulties with the Italian Consulate but that has nothing to do with the airline or the travel agency. Have you tried going to the Consulate in person? If you bring a print out of your e-ticket confirmation and itinerary you might make better progress face to face.

Call Expedia and request a supervisor. When you reach a supervisor ask that they read you the fare basis of each segment of your itinerary. They may be the same for all three in either direction or they may differ. It all depends on how your ticket priced out the day you purchased it. The fare basis is a grouping of alpha-numerics such as QXY21NR.

Once you have this information then call Malev. Give them the routing and date you purchased your ticket and the fare basis codes supplied by Expedia. They will be able to tell you the restrictions which apply and the fees associated with changing. Remember if there was a combination of fares used usually the most restrictive rule applies so if even one segment was fared with a super-restrictive fare which cannot be changed it renders the whole ticket that way.

Now if Malev tells you a bulk or consolidator fare was used usually these are changeable as long as the point of origin and destination doesn't change. If your ticket was issued with published fares and the rules allow changes then great. Either way you'll need to contact Expedia once again (and I also suggest you request a supervisor) and inform them you've spoken to Malev and the rules do indeed allow for changes.

Good luck.

thank you for information, i did contact both of them and i have spoken witha level 3 superviser and i have a case there with them, they keep on telling me that i agreed to their rules, i have a print of their rules and regulation when i purchased the tikets and it says some general stuff and that they have not recieved the rules and restriction from the airline but in many cases could changed before the deprture date, i tired many ways they have to do somthing all they keep on telling me is: i do appologize and i understand how you feel , they are not responsible is the airline, but at the moment of purchase they diddn;t have any regulations from them, so what do i do? it is still going on..............

If you are unable to obtain the required visas, most airlines will issue a refund. Ask Malev if they will refund your ticket price. Then, you would have to purchase new tickets, probably at a higher fare.
