When returning from China on United on Dec. 28, 2010 I had several electoral items, including two movie cameras, stolen from my baggage. I filed a claim with United as required stating emphatically that the items were stolen but when United baggage claim personal called me and left a message she asked if my baggage had been returned. I guess her education did not include reading English. I have still not received any satisfaction over two months after the theft.
It has taken United Plus over three months to update my mileage program. |

Electronics may not be covered by some airlines.

Every airline I have ever been on, states quite clearly that they will not be responsible for electronics or other valuables in your baggage. Those things should always be on your carry on with you.
Obviously, such theft should never happen, but you won't win in court. |

Gromit,
You are pretty consistent in giving duff advice, and clearly this habit is continuing. US carriers when on domestic routes are able to set out T&Cs which can exclude electronic items (although the legality IOC these terms are questionable and the DOT has in the past taken enforcement action against Spirit for thus very thing). However, this flight was from China. Items of lost luggage are covered by the Montreal Convention and it is not permitted to exclude any item, regardless of what United put in their T&Cs. I suggest he writes to United claiming hs rights under the Montreal Convention, and don't take the word of the employee at United who rejected his claim. many are too stupid to know the law... Aren't they Gromit? |
