That's not entirely true. The new federal regulations state that airlines cannot limit the amount per day until a bag is returned to you. They must reimburse you for all "reasonable" expenses (the key word being reasonable) up to a maximum of $3300.00

What is true is that under the contract of carriage you are allowed to claim up to $3300 for essentials.The contract controls and the airline can not add other conditions. Most important is that Delta and other airlines hide all these facts about passenger rights from the public.
