Unhappy Jet Airways

As you can see by the enclosed itinerary,I used your airline to fly from Mumbai to Johannesburg on 23 March ,arrival time 07.35 AM airline ref/Triplocator 2YFK8M, flight 9W242.
Unfortunately the aeroplane was delayed by 45 minutes due to no fault of mine, this meant that I would miss my connecting flight to Durban which was to leave JNB at 09.00AM.
I approached the air hostess,Bakavi, showed her my connecting flight ticket, she said she would speak to the Captain.
She returned, and said the Captain had phoned someone, and that I mustn`t worry as the connecting flight would wait for me.
The aeroplane on which I was flying landed at 08.19 AM.
I reclaimed my baggage and got to the Kulula boarding pass counter at 08.45 AM, only to be told that I was too late, I assured the assistant that the Captain had arranged for the flight to wait for me, after phoning she told me the plane was ready to take off, and that I had missed the flight.
She suggested I contact Jet airways to isue me with a new connecting flight as Jet Airways was responsible for me missing my flight.
I approached Mr Najib Karodia, the Johannesburg manager, who apologised, but said I must buy another ticket. And reclaim R730.00 from Jet Airways.

Jet airways reply;the connecting flight was not booked on the same reservation, so they won`t reimburse me,can someone explain why a single or dual reservation would make a difference,or are Jet Airways just showing their lack of decency and code of ethics

Jet Airways is not jetblue. They are 2 different airlines, but they do have an interline agreement at JFK and EWR.

Unfortunately since you booked 2 separate reservations (from Mumbai to Durban and then Durban to Jo'burg) you will have no recourse.

The way it works is the airlines are on-task to get you from point A to point B. In your case, its from Mumbai to Durban for flight 1 and Durban to Jo'burg for flight 2. They did accomplish that task for the 1st flight. They couldn't for the 2nd flight since you were not there on-time to board.

Now, had you booked from Mumbai to Jo'burg (i.e. a single reservation with a connecting flight in Durban), even if you were on the same physical flights, it would have been the responsibility of the airline to get you to Jo'burg (even if you missed the connection due to delays with flight 1)

In other words, the airlines treat each reservation separate.
