100% agree!! glad im not the only one. I flew qatar from IAD-doha. i went to the agent in DC because i had a United boarding pass and had to recheck with qatar to obtain one of their boarding passes. the agent asked me if i checked bags, i told her no. she looked at my bags, i had 1 personal item and 1 rollerboard (21 inch..standard, i cannot check due to my company policy with checking our uniforms). she told me my bag was too large and it had to be checked I told her, i just flew from orlando on a smaller airplane and it fit, she told me, right but it wasnt qatar. (im sorry but a boeing 737 has smaller bins than a 777 from ANY airline). I then told her i have flown qatar 777 before. I then told her, if mine has to be checked so does this gentlemans, and his (pointing to other passenger bags that were the same size as mine) she told me she wasnt worried about his. After a few minutes another man came up and asked what the problem was, i explained to him the situation. at this time the agent already printed out bag tags for my bag to be checked. I finally said "fine" i'll check the bag, however if my uniform pieces or bags get lost, YOU will explain it to my company. (i took out my blazer and pants for the uniform). the stupid agent told me to leave my bag and i can board the plane (being star gold). ummm..NO! i told her i wasnt leaving my bag in the middle of a boarding gate, and not getting on the plane until i see my bag go into the jetbridge. the man did take the bag down (after he argued about it and after we asked for his name). I get on the plane...every man was able to bring their rollerboards on, even one identical to mine AND expanded!!! talk about discrimination. (i never claim it, but after talking to others on my crew and family they all claimed discrimination). thankfully the bag made it.
nobody (as you stated) would sit in their assigned seat, telling somebody i wont sit in their center seat because they want my aisle seat was a challenge and people would not stow their carry ons. i agree..how this airline claims to be the best is beyond me. i hope my company never puts me on them again
