I recently returned from Europe and the last leg of the the trip home was on US Air. We had to check two bags plane side because they would not fit in the glove box size bins onboard. The bags contained fragile items but were double shrink wrapped, in boxes, wrapped in clothes, in hard sided suitcases. Upon arrival a broken ramp was brought plane side and bags were being slammed onto the broken ramp. One of our bags was stood up on the top of the ramp and then kicked down onto the cement. Items in both bags were broken as a result. After filing a complaint US Air baggage resolution decided this was normal baggage handling and damage was our fault for not removing items from checked bags. US Air evidently encourages handlers to attempt to break passengers bags and property. I have written the CEO of US Air for his take on this matter but have received no response. Do not fly this airline, from what I received in response to my complaint it appears they will attempt to break your property and bags and/or steal items from your bags if you check bags with them.
