Seat Discomfort & Staff Excellence
Hello All,
I would like to share a story which in itself is neither a complaint or a reflection on the airline. I look forward to your feedback in response.
Prior to securing employment with an airline here in Dubai, UAE, i used to reside in the UAE with a visitor visa which had a validity of 30 days with a ten day grace period and every 35 days I used to leave the country and return and get a new visit visa on arrival after taking a short trip to Oman (previously this was Kish Island flying Kish Airlines which I now avoid) with FlyDubai. Now as tickets are approximately AED 470 - AED 490 (USD 128 - USD 133) I decided to try a different airline and picked Swiss Intl Airlines. As usual everything went smoothly ground-side and air-side and I was greeted warmly by the friendly cabin crew and sat down. Upon sitting a realisation dawned on me ... I am way too big for this seat. Up till then I just assumed that all seats followed a set guideline as to how big the seating area is in its dimensions but I know now that this may or may not be true to each airline. However I sat, got as comfortable as possible and buckled in. I also shared this chagrin with my fellow seat mate a big man from the USA who works in the Oil industry and we both shared a laugh. After the seatbelt sign went off I started hunting for a better seat and after finding one, confirming with the cabin crew that it was ok to do so, I sat down in my new seat which incredibly I felt was smaller than my first seat (which was by pure chance a first row seat. So i approached the cabin crew and after apologising and excusing myself for wasting their time I sat down again in my original seat and stayed there for the rest of the 50 min flight.
I would like to add that through out my seat struggle which was mainly due to my size, the entire crew on board my flight were excellent. I cannot fault anyone as they were entirely professional, polite, courteous and friendly.
