Hi peeps,

This is what happened whiles on an Emirates flight, it happened a few years ago, the reason i'm posting now is because I just recently joined this forum.

Me and my wife booked tickets from Manchester, England to Karachi, Pakistan. The flight, as most with Emirates, was via Dubai.

Now our flight was fine, the service on the flight was great. When we arrived to Dubai we were told our luggage would be transferred to our next plane, to Karachi.

We arrived to Karachi and whiles waiting for my luggage one of the workers there who help with bags came over and told me that one of my bags had not arrived. How would someone know this without knowing who I was? I was simply shocked and waited a while for my last bag, which magically, didn't arrived.

I had to fill out a form before I left the airport otherwise I wouldn't be able to claim to come back for my bag. So I filled out a small form and they said they would contact me when my bag arrives.

I went to stay with my family and for a few days I heard nothing from the Emirates office at Karachi Airport so I called them myself and they told me that my bag was arriving soon and I should come with my passport and collect it.

I had my relative drive me nearly an hour from his house back to the airport, passed security by showing them my passport only to be told my bag didn't arrive. This happened three or four times during the next few days, I was told to come get it and it wasn't there. So I eventually had enough and went to the main Emirates office to speak to a guy there who was simply rude. He gave me his direct number to contact him on.

I was only in Pakistan for a few weeks and this made my stay very unpleasant and wasted alot of time.

I accepted the fact that my bag was "lost" and I wouldn't be getting it and filled out a claims form to get my money back. When I arrived back in England I posted the form to the UK office who didn't respond at all. I called them up and they had no records of my claim and asked me to send the form again so this time I went and faxed the form to the number they provided. I also told them that if it isn't sorted out I will be going to a solicitor and the media.

A week later I called up to see the status and was told they had not received it.

I got fed up and told them I will be going to my solicitor who will deal with this further as I just couldn't be bothered to deal with them anymore.

To this date I don't know what happened with my luggage that was "lost" but I did get compensated.

Further to this, whiles in karachi, I asked the Emirates rep to call Manchester Airport and Dubai Airport to find out where the bag is and why it has been delayed. He said he can't do this but provided me with numbers to do it myself! This isn't my job and I was shocked at the so called "help" they offered me.

I'm writing this not for sympathy just so you are aware of the fact that if you have anything expensive or valuable in your checked luggage it will either be stolen from the bag or the whole bag with magically disappear off the grid. I would advice you to put all expensive things in your hand luggage and just don't let it out of your sight.
