I booked reservations 2 1/2 months ago for my daughter to come home from Kansas City to Jax, FL and the were running late (30 minutes) and they made her go home 1 1/2 hour drive only to come back tomorrow. I only hope she makes this flight tomorrow. Her flight was suppose to leave on 7/31/2009 on flight #1476 connecting to flight #1672 from Atlanta. Not only did I have to pay a $100 for them to walk her to her flight in Atlanta, but she has medication she needs. She takes about 20 pills a day. We have to try and do the whole thing over again. We talked to supervisors only to find him very rude and had a major attitude.(craig moore)if that is his real name. The airline said they were not responsible for her taking medication, & I said no they werent but they were responsible for getting her home in a timely matter, which is going to take 24 hours. It is ridiculous that an airline is so imcompetent. I will never fly Delta again. They are rude, and it took over 40 minutes to get a customer service person on the phone, only to be put on hold for another 15 minutes. This airline shows it has no respect for people or the problems they cause everyone. THIS AIRLINE NEEDS TO GO AHEAD AND DECLARE BANKRUPTCY.

Now about your daughter. Was she traveling as an "unaccompanied minor"? You say they were running late, who was? Delta or your daughter? And as wrong as the supervisor was for being mean or rude, he was right that they aren't responsible for her medication. Hopefully we can get some more details and help you resolve the situation.

I think I can piece together what happened from the information given. The OP stated she (I'm assuming gender here) paid them "$100 for them to walk her to her flight in Atlanta" which is Delta's fee for unaccompanied minor service. She mentioned flight 1476 from Kansas City (MCI) to Atlanta and flight 1672 from ATL to Jacksonville (JAX). I looked up the flight status for DL1476 today and it was severely delayed. Scheduled to depart at 4:29 PM it didn't leave MCI until 7:21 PM and arrived ATL @9:48 PM nearly 3 hours late. The two remaining flights from ATL to JAX were DL 1672 with a scheduled departure time of 8:17 PM and DL 1263 @10:50 PM. Both of those flights were delayed as well. There was weather in ATL this evening when evening thunder storms rolled in.
Now when the daughter's flight left MCI there was no way of knowing if they would connect to 1672 because they would already be past the scheduled departure time and since iot was a weather delay it could have been cleared to depart at any time. The only connection she could have made was the last connecting flight of the evening. Airlines will not book an unaccompanied minor on the last connecting flight of the day to avoid the risk of the minor being stranded at the connecting city. So, Ms. rosemcelhi, you go on a tirade about how awful Delta is by denying boarding to your 15 year old daughter while all the while they were looking out for her best interest. Was this not explained to whoever took her to the airport in Kansas City? What if they had allowed her to go to Atlanta and the flights to Jacksonville were canceled? You would really have a reason to complain then and I'll bet instead of going online to lodge a baseless complaint you would be on the phone with an attorney to start the ball rolling on a multi-million dollar lawsuit! |

You might be a sympathizer, but you sure are a jerk. You have no understanding, and therefore an idiot. You were not in my conversation, and you surely a jerk. People like you are incapable of understanding the circumstances, and I need not go into more detail. You are probaly Mr. Craig Moore. Therefore anything you have to say means nothing to me. Have a nice day.

phxflyer is right though. i was in atlanta yesterday flew ord-atl-gpt and EVERYTHING was delayed due to the weather. the airlines will not put a UM on the last connecting fight. just because he is stating the facts makes him a jerk?? i dont think so. imo the airline was watching out for your daughter

I think the OP's response to PHXFlyer gives us an idea what really transpired. The Delta agent probably stated the facts as outlined in the UM rules and, of course, he was labled a jerk as well. sigh.

Another example of why I left the airlines.
No, try 3 hours. Quote:
I never understood why people suddenly stop caring about their kids when it becomes inconvenient. And yes, you read that right. STOP CARING ABOUT THEIR KIDS. I've had people like this that get so PO'd at us when they left their ID in the car (prior to (9/11 when anyone could come across). We don't know you from Adam, so yes, you need your ID. Then again we get people ALL THE TIME who intentionally list the wrong person as the pick up so they can get one on the ex-wife or ex-husband. They don't give a crap about the fact that the kid is in the middle. I'm fully with PHX on this one. You need to stop, get all the facts straight, and realize they were doing this for you kid's best interest. But no. You don't care that your kid might have been stuck in ATL overnight. Do you want her staying in a hotel room by herself or with someone from the airline? |
