Volaris - unusable vouchers after cancelation
I'm quite sad and getting on toward depressed because of this situation. We booked a flight to Cancun about 13 months ago and Volaris canceled. Well, bad on us for not having insurance. We made other arrangements and generally had a great vacation.
But be forewarned - they will issue you vouchers, vouchers that are impossible to redeem online, then you call them and they mysteriously drop the call after a time period ranging from 30 minutes to 90 minutes. I don't know how they always seem to hit the 30 minute mark, I wish they would just tell me to my face that they will hang up and save me the time.
Any way, these vouchers expire in a week or so, and we are as yet unable to redeem them. We finally got them on a recording saying that the vouchers could not be redeemed. Bizarre.
The worst is that American Express does nothing for us despite several attempts at dispute resolution. And we have proof that the vendor refuses to honor these vouchers. Essentially they have taken close to US$1,000 and provided no service or product in return. That's about it.
