Thumbs down Shame on You - Sports Illustrated Plane

Please tell me it's not true. I used to LOVE you guys. But if it's true that you're unveiling a bikini-clad Sports Illustrated-themed plane, then you've lost me as a customer. I nominate you to next year's "Worst Marketing to Girls" award (Google it). You can be right up there with the toy "Pole Dancing Kit" that they finally took off the market. Check out the Hardy Girls / Healthy Women website and then tell me you can look yourselves in the mirror. Shame on you.

Dang...I knew there was a reason why I like Southwest! Remember Continental back in the 70's..."We'll really move our tail for you."

I got a feelin' I'm in trouble now! LOL.

For me personally I don't have an issue with it, but when you throw the family and kids in the gate area into the mix, I can't say I think this is a great idea.

Why complain about an aircraft with lewd print? Just don't fly in it if it offends you. If enough people say "no". Then the airline will change their ways or go out of business. I love free markets!

If you love free markets, it is a good job you are a "former" airline employee, because if there is one thing the airline cartels in the US are not it is a free market!!

As for the SI livery - it was all part of a cross-promotion with Sports Illustrated, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, and Southwest Airlines. The aircraft was parked at New York's LaGuardia airport at the same time the Times Square billboard announcing this year's cover model, Bar Refaeli, was unveiled by David Letterman. Southwest plans to start service to LGA later this year. One if it's destinations will almost surely be Las Vegas.

I really don't get the puritanical attitudes that still prevail in this country. We criticize Middle Eastern cultures for making their women wear veils and burqas but put a woman's image on a plane in a bikini and the same people go berzerk. Unbelievable!

Of course they always say "the kids shouldn't see this." I guess you never take your kids to a beach or pool. In Europe families go to topless and nude beaches all the time. Is Europe full of damaged people because they saw breasts on a beach when they were kids? Come on America - pull your heads out of your collective *****. There are much bigger issues at hand than the SI swimsuit model on a Southwest Airlines plane. Your kids' eyes aren't gonna melt if they look at it and they're not going to be emotionally scarred for life. You parents do a much better job screwing up your own kids than all the media exposure and video games ever could.

Default ok OUTSIDE the plane, but not INSIDE??

Have the Southwest fashion police figured-out what they want?? Have we forgotten about that customer who was threatened with being thrown-off a flight? Here's a link to refresh memories:
http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/m...-1m5braun.html
Who knows what's next? Perhaps they will copy Frontier? They will paint pix of "unclothed" rabbits, wolves, bears, etc.
Are the Southwest flight attendants, who were "offended" by that customer's outfit, now refusing to work on that aircraft? I don't think so!
And yes--I will STILL fly with Southwest.

OK...wait a minute, folks. I just sailed on the Carnival Pride which is decked out in 15th and 16th century renaissance artwork...in short...there are plenty of boobies and hoo-hoos shown all over the ship. Maybe Southwest should placate the Gloria Steinhams who fly and paint a Chippendales dude on the fuselage of another plane. Would that work?

Let's at least try to keep this thread on an adult level. They're breasts. And I'm not sure what you are referring to when you say "hoo-hoos." If you ever watched the movie "Boys on the Side" I think I know, but I can't be 100% sure.
