My wife's parents were in transit to FLorida on December 31, 2010. The flight of 6488 usairways powered by united was at 4:36pm and we were at ord ohare airport at 3.00pm. My wife's parents both needed wheelchairs, and this was marked in the itinery. The baggage receptionist checked our bags, and told us to go to the wheelchair section for the wheelchairs. My wife went and told the women who was sitting and talking on the phone, well after her phone finished she told my wife she had one wheelchair and that we would have to wait for 15 min. The flight was getting closer, so we thought we needed to take one of them from the regular gate so they would not miss the flight,we went to the baggage checkin rep and told her that the wheelchair person told us there was one wheelchair available and that she can't guarantee their flight that they will make it. The baggage rep i think was a supervisor, she said we needed to be at that wheelplace section and that if there was one wheelchair the other person could go with that wheelchair, the baggage rep supervisor i think said they had a electric cart also. Therefore my wife went back and told that wheelchair women, that women scolded my wife and said dont tell me how to do my job, and she was very abusive and we felt like she was prejudice she wasn't friendly or curteous. We want to take disciplineary actions on her, so other people won't suffer her wrath.
