Default computer change seats, no help from humans

Booked and picked out seats for the family back in March( 3 kids). Now the airline(computer ) has changed the seats and no human can change them back Is it only Midwest/frontier that has no manuell override on the computer mistakes??? Why is there no accountability when it messes up. All the reservation people kept saying was it is seating is not promised, can change but not by them. Most people will check in by computer so I assume the airport staff will then blame the the computer for not accomaditing me at the airport......, IS IT ONLY MIDWEST/FRONTIER or do no airline have human override possibilities......

All airlines including Midwest can override and allocate seating. If they are suggesting there is no way of doing it, they are lying to you. What they probably mean is that it is company policy to prevent them from over-riding the seat allocations. If the company president was travelling on the aircraft, believe me, they would find a way. Airline employees are like lawyers.. you can tell when they are lying when their lips move.

It's possible there was a change in the aircraft. That messes up the reserved seating sometimes. It's hard to fix when other people check in and take the seats you reserved when there is an aircraft change. It's a little bit easier to change at the gates than it is at the ticket counter once everyone has checked in, though. When we need to move other passengers to accomodate a family, we need to page those other passengers up and notify them that we need to change their seats.

Default Why not change it now, before people check in...

You gave the same answer as the midwest people, makes no sense. Noone has checked in yet, flight is Sat morning, easier to change the seats now and not mess w people at 4.30 am on Saurday. My big issues are 2, 1 fix the computersystem to make groups a priority (usually parents/kids) and set the the rest according to numbers, 2 if not possible, then a human should be able to do an override to correct obvious mistakes. even the flight coming back(same flight# still, no notice of any change) has messed up the seating, so why did it get changed.....and why can it not be changed back, stop hiding behind computers and take some responsibility.

People often check in online. So to say no one has checked in yet, is probably a bad assumption.

Changing a lot of seats around requires coordination between those whose seats are being changed (especially if they don't want to change) and the agents at the airport. It's far more than your desires, one agent, and a computer. This is why it's always straightened out at the airport.

Question checked in...

Are you thinking people can check in more than 24 H ahead, that's news to me, but you might have better access/knowledge than the rest of us. Why can the computer change it w no adverse event prior to today and why would a switch back cost any kind of problem, when check in is in the future???

traveller61.........it was mentioned before and I certainly don't know if this happened but it does alot....if after people have reserved seats and then the airline does an aircraft swap with another aircraft that has a different seating configuration, that would easily explain why it happened and why it can't be changed back to the original seating.

For example.....if you had seats 15ab, and 16abc for your party of 5 and then on the new aircraft 16abc don't exist due to a bulkhead or the numbering of seats or if it happens to be an exit row or seats for sale, you won't get them back. The computer then looks for the same types of seats you had. If unavailable, it may or may not seat you any any open seat, it depends on how the program is set up.

Again, I'm not saying 100% this happened but it is one explanation.

Thumbs down ok, so what

that might be an explaination but it does not explain why you cant have people override it when it has been pointed out, all they need to do is move my kids 4 rows over, next to us instead of waiting for maybe's and possibilities a Sat at 5 am..... The flight has not changed, still 2 and 2 seating, they did change from AB to AC and CD to DF seating chart, but the configuration is the same and does not explain why it happened on the home flight were no change has occurred according to them.... Still unbelievable that they can't override and fix with 5 days notice...

Default correct

You are so correct, it's now proven by the changes they did, funny that they would expose their own dishonesty over being called useless. Wonder why they do customer service. She gave us the worst seats in the plane, funny if she would have used the time to do some good instead there could have been a nice review instead.
