One Trip, 2 Cancellations, 3 delays, baggage delayed
I booked through DELTA to attend my son's wedding in South Korea. My stay was planned for only 3 days. On 27 April DL5347 from Norfolk to DTW was delayed 35 minutes due to late crew. The delay consumed the lay-over time and forced us to immediately proceed and board DL275. Once on board we were delayed, while sitting on the plane and at the gate, for 3 hours due to mechanical problems. The delay caused us to miss the connection from Tokyo to Busan, DL621. On our return trip 2 May, flight DL622 to Tokyo was cancelled due to mechanical issues and we were not able to depart until 3 May. At FJK flight DL6098 was cancelled due to mechanical issues and we were re-routed to La Guardia where a US Air flight took us safely home.
We missed an important activity on Friday in Busan, my wife legs swelled and were in pain during our stay from the extended standing due to cancellations and wait, and I missed one day of work due to the late arrival home. Now I have to return to South Korea to accomplish what I went there for. I tried to extend DELTA customer service the opportunity to consider the harm they did us and make it right. Obviously, they did not care.
