Default Continuation of baggage--should be automatic!

The complaint-reservation: # 160-118-640-11
I purchased a flight-(round trip)-from LAX--to Minneapolis with PRICELINE--through- FRONTIER AIRLINES-the trip there was ok. On the way back-(Dec 29th 2011)-my flight was with SUN COUNTRY AIRLINES--5pm--depart to Las vegas-6:15pm arrival and then a connecting flight at 7:15pm- with AMERICAN AIRLINES to lax.
Well I was informed in Minneapolis when I check in for my flight with SUN COUNTRY AIRLINES that I would have to pick up my luggage and recheck in to get to my AMERICAN AIRLINES flight to lax at 7:15, I asked whether this would be a problem and I was “assured” that it wouldn't be-A big mistake on my part: “TRUSTING THE AIRLINES”!”
I arrived in Las Vegas at 6:15pm--waited for my luggage 20 min--then had to walk to the AMERICAN AIRLINE check in wait in line another 15 min-(Keep in mind I have never ever been to Las Vegas airport and was unfamiliar where exactly to go)--and then was told I couldn't get on the plane--I was too late--they said that the times were too close and "I shouldn't have been sold that ticket in the first place".
I was and am SOOO ****** that PRICELINE and or FRONTIER didn't know that SUN COUNTRY and AMERICAN AIRLINES don't do a continuation of baggage for the next flight and that it would be a problem!! I did get on another flight but after 2 more hours-and I paid an additional $204.00 to go back to LA one way.
Now I want to know if I can get at least half of what I paid for the flight refunded--and or the 204.00 I paid additional to get back home. That seems reasonable considering it was the holiday's and the airlines screwed up!
What I'm confused about is how these major airlines and or agencies can sell you a ticket that they know would be impossible to make a connecting flight with and not take responsibility for it?
I called FRONTIER and PRICELINE and a company called LOWEST FARE-nobody wants to take responsibility for the egregious error!

With all the charges the airlines have, and now paying for baggage plus the higher and higher increases in fares, the airlines have us by the throat and there seems to be no accountability.
One company says it's the fault of another company and then they send you back to the same company or a different company but no one wants to admit fault and rectify the matter-then what is your recourse?
“You have to eat the ----!
I am out over $300.00-(if you count the money I spent to get back and half of the ticket--$493.80 for the original round trip ticket) because I trusted the SOB's of the airlines!
I am sending this letter to the DOT, and to any other agencies that could help me get my money back, plus my friends and associates and colleagues and all the social networks I am on, so that any and all that I know, hear about my horrible experience with the said airlines and see if they can avoid them in the future.

Sincerely,
Robert Barron

File this complaint with the DOT. There is a link in quick Links on ths page. There is no way this was your fault. I think the real blame rests with Priceline, as they booked you on a trip in which it was not possible for your contract to be honoured. If DOT don't help, file a small claims court claim against Priceline. I can't see an judge findng in their favour in these circumstances.

While you might have an issue with Priceline, the main fault lies with yourself for choosing flights with so little time to make your connection. One hour? If your Sun Country flight was even a little late because of weather or a mechanical, you still would never have made the connecting flight with AA.

If you had booked directly with a qualified travel agent, or even the airlines themselves, you might have been cautioned about how close together you booked your flights. Third party agents like Priceline, Orbits, etc have no responsibility to protect you from yourself. They're a website.

How on earth can you expect Frontier to be responsible? You picked the flights yourself on Priceline and you said the flights on Frontier were okay. So, if you have a complaint at all it's with Priceline for selling you the ticket. And you can't blame Sun Country either if they don't have a baggage agreement with American!
