False connection times Heathrow
BA sells flights with connection times of 1 hour through Heathrow. The claim that you can make a connection in 1 hour through Heathrow is blatantly false and constitutes false advertising. I just arrived on a business class flight from Washington DC at Terminal 5. In order to make what was sold to me as a connecting flight to Spain, you have to take a train to change to Gate Area A. Even though I had the right to use the express fast track, this did not help. All arrivals must be rechecked by security which causes a minimum 1/2 hour delay. Security is quite zealous and the fast track privilege that business class customers pay for is entirely useless. In reality, the minimum connection time even within Terminal 5 is 2 hours--unless you get lucky. I found the BA staff to be friendly and helpful, but it's clear that the choice to sell "false connections" is a calculated high-level business decision that causes a predictably high percentage of passengers to miss flights. It's also quite clear that BA has built this into their business model. Bait and switch--all to make it seem like their flights are shorter. Airline regulators should take a closer look at this.
