Angry LIAT= Leave Island Anytime Horrendous Experience

Do not fly this airline. Have not met anyone that has had anything good to say about LIAT.
On Saturday, August 6, 2016, I traveled with my companions; another adult and two children age 8 on LIAT Airlines. The tickets we purchased were from St. Vincent SVD to San Juan Puerto Rico and included 5 connecting flights. Due to poor communication and inefficient operational procedures, we failed to make even our first connecting flight, losing thousands of dollars in non-refundable hotel rooms and airline tickets. We have submitted this complaint and exhibits over 75 days ago outlining the details and have had no response. I even mailed to all board members and customer service. This is our sad story......
On August 6, 2016 we waited to board LIAT Flight #726 in St. Vincent (SVD) for over 45 minutes with no explanation from airlines about a late arrival in Bridgetown (BGI). At this time, we inquired with a LIAT Airlines employee about missing our connecting flights and were told not to worry. Flight #726 was delayed over 45 minutes at SVD airport as well as another 20 minutes on the tarmac at BGI, which caused us to miss our connections LIAT Flt# 512 from BGI to ANU and Flt# 526. As a result, we never arrived at our final destination San Juan (SJU).
When we arrived late in Bridgetown (BGI), we along with over 15 other passengers who had missed the connecting flight to Antigua, were ushered around the BGI airport for over two hours with only one LIAT Airline employee. This employee could not share any information with us except that they did not have a recovery plan and could not tell us when or how we might be able to get to our destination of our purchased flight. We were then told as we boarded a bus for hotel that there was no recovery plan and that we would receive a call sometime the next day for more information. This was extremely stressful for us and our two children as we had no idea when or how we would be arriving home.
The next morning, August 7th we had still not heard any information from LIAT Airlines. Feeling unable to leave the hotel room in case we missed a call, we started calling LIAT Airlines repeatedly until someone answered the phone. We were then told that LIAT Airlines would not be able to get us to San Juan Puerto Rico in time to make our flight on August 8, 2016 home to San Diego and were provided with a letter stating this circumstance. In fact, they were unsure if they could get us to San Juan, Puerto Rico in the next two or three days!
Due to LIAT Airlines’ failure to provide an on time flight, lack of communication and nonexistent recovery plan, we missed our Southwest Flight # from San Juan Puerto Rico to San Diego, California. We were also forced to forfeit our $ 460 prepaid condo booked for a two-night stay on August 6 and August 7th. After numerous calls and in person meeting on August 7th at BGI Airport. LIAT Airlines informed us that they could not provide us with a flight to San Juan so we were forced to book travel on Jet Blue, the only other airline with an available flight to California, United States. (Exhibit E)
LIAT airlines did not render the services we purchased which caused us undue stress and a high financial impact that includes:
· Forfeited two night non-refundable stay in San Juan Puerto Rico
· Forfeited on Southwest Airlines flight from San Juan to San Diego
· Purchased flight on JetBlue from BGI to Los Angeles
· Rental car from Los Angeles LAX to San Diego Airport (original destination)
We are extremely disappointed and dismayed with the lack of efficiency and treatment we experienced on LIAT Airlines and appalled by the inadequate/nonexistent recovery plan provided to us on August 7, 2016 by your airlines. After conducting research, LIAT Airlines has been documented having issues and complaints about late flights, lost luggage and inadequate recovery plans.
