Default no answer regarding mile reinstatment

On December 17 , 2008 we purchased magazines from our Delta Sky Mile account. ( According to Delta redeeming Sky Miles for magazines is considered an eligible activity to extend the expiration date. ) On January 1, 2009 over 200,000 miles were taken from my account and over 150,000 miles were taken from my husband's account. On January 8, 2009 I faxed copies of all the documentation in order to reinstate our Sky Miles. I contacted Delta once again regarding this matter...and of course they did not have the courtesy of even dealing adequately with this matter. What can one do?

Delta SkyMiles will expire after NO activity in an account for a period of 2 years. Yet you waited until Dec. 17 with your miles about to expire Jan. 1 to do anything about it? On DL's website they advise that non-flight partner activity may take up to 60 days to post to your account. If you really wanted to protect your miles you should have just purchased 2000 miles each (the minimum for DL) @$55 per 2000 plus Federal Excise Tax ($4.13) which would have posted to your account immediately.

On DL's website it explicitly states to allow up to 60 days for non-flight related partner activity to post, after which;
If mileage credit for a qualifying Delta or Delta Connection® flight or qualifying partner activity is not recorded on your statement within 60 days (30 days for Delta/Delta Connection, Continental Airlines, or Northwest Airlines), please follow these procedures:

For car, hotel, and miscellaneous partner activity:
If mileage credit has not been recorded on your SkyMiles statement within 60 days after qualifying activity occurs, contact the partner directly.
In other words, contact the third-party vendor that processed the miles for the magazine subscriptions. BTW - magazine subscriptions are one of the BIGGEST WASTE of miles out there.
