Last year in beginning of October I decided to visit some friends in Romania for Christmas Holidays and because I didn't have too much time left for paid vacations I have to choose flying back on Jan 1st.
Trip to Romania went smooth and no problems but returning in US was a hell. My flight Delta 135 on Jan 1st was at 1:20pm and I get to airport just to be a safe side at 10:30 am. No delta counter open, no flight on the board and asking the airport customer service I'm told that there is no flight from Bucharest, Romania to NY for that day. Worse no Delta employee was on service. No help, no answers.... The only possibility was to call the number from the electronic ticket, a 1-800 number for Delta Customer service in US. I used my cell phone to call US. I was charge for roaming as far as $1.99 per minute and first Rep from Delta was arguing with me that I was late and airplane took off already. It took her a while to understand just because was about for in the morning on East coast in Us. After about 45 min she was able to tell me that they canceled the flight since October 29th. I didn't get any email, no call. I was not informing in any way about changes. Beside the change didn’t fit my schedule and lost even a paid day. Anyway I was offered to flight back to US next day with same flight with delta. She tried to offer a 200$ travel voucher but when I tried to explain that I need to paid another night for hotel, taxi, food, cell phone bill she hang out on me. Of course another call to Delta, more stress and finally I got a nice employee that at least solve my problem send a new ticket with an earlier flight next day instead of 1:20 pm with Delta , I few back at 7:00 am with Air France. They destroy my holiday, my vacation. Everything was ruined just because of one of the worst experience in my life. I complain to Delta Airlines. On there web site there is a form with exit European Union; I double check to see if I qualify for that compensation. I didn't get an answer from Delta since. What I need to do? I will probably contact a lawyer because that's not acceptable. They could at least apologize in an official letter. Please advice! Thank you, |

how did it destroy your vacation? you were returing home. I didn't think delta had actuall employees, i thought they were contracted, thats what i thought i saw when i flew in and out of romania. and a lawyer for what? the fact that they still got you from point A to B. and if that was the worst experience of your life, you have been on a good streak. this country is so sue happy

You seem to be very knowledge about everything
![]() I was hoping to get at least an apology. The way that you are describing I should be thankful in the first place because they flew me to Romania and out at their convenience without having the courtesy to inform a passenger that they canceled their flight. And how is paying for an extra night at hotel, food and cellphone bill?! Me, of course!! Do you have any idea how expensive can be this" great experience". |

i just dont think that getting a lawyer and trying to sue is always the answer, (thats just me, i dont agree with that kind of stuff). but i would complain to delta and try to get something out of them. (hotel stay, food, and especially that cell phone bill).
