Default Sooo MAD_Flight CO527 then many others ..

I need to file a complaint, but not sure if Continental would do anything? So, I figure at least I can vent here.

My brother was on flight CO527 to Newark, then a connection on CO99 to Hong Kong. Everything seemed fine at first, but right before take off. The pilot announced that there's mechanical issues and had to be delayed. The delay caused him to miss his connection flight to Hong Kong. Because of this, Continental sent him to LAX to get on Cathay Pacific. He made sure with the agent that everything was all set and confrim before he took off. When he got to LAX, Cathay Pacific told him Continental NEVER sent any of his information (along with 6 of others who missed the connection) to them and their flight is actually overbook. He went to Continental for help, once again, the sent him back to Cathay on a later flight. Yet again, the airline had none of his information. Once again, he went back to Continental, at that time, Continental informed him that there's no more flight to Hong Kong and all flights for the next few days are fully booked. The only option he has is to fly back to Newark to get on the next day's flight to Hong Kong.
So, after 15 hours (maybe more with the dealing with different people) of flying back and forth, he's back at Newark to get on the next day's flight, which he could have waited at Newark. Since he's tired and feeling sick from all the flying, I suggested him to ask for an upgrade. NOTHING... they didn't want to do anything for him.
Any of you went through same situation and what you suggest me to do?

I think you have been treated appallingly. There is no excuse for this lack of communication and that amount of inconvenience. I think an upgrade is a reasonable request in these circumstances, but you have no power to compel them. I would complain in writing but US airlines are no longer customer friendly. In general, it is better to travel with non US based airlines than US based ones, even it involves s change. Cathay Pacific are better.
