flight from SeaTac to Edmonton canceled with no true reason
On March 29, 2011 I was returning from Los Angeles to Edmonton via Seattle. We arrived in Seattle, ran to the gate for our connection to Edmonton, got on board early, pilot told us we had a small window of time to get in the air because of something with ground equipment in Edmonton. Sat on the tarmac for 1/2 hour. Pilot comes on and says we missed our window and that the flight was canceled. Back into the terminal, wait 45 minutes to speak with customer service. Told we couldn't fly because of weather in Edmonton - it was a clear, beautiful evening in Edmonton. There is no reason we should not have flown to Edmonton that night. Many of the passengers I spoke with suspect the pilot was over his hours for the day and couldn't legally fly us home.
I complained through the online complaint form and just received a response. They are offering me $75 off my "next flight" with Alaska/Horizon. I missed a full day of work, had to stay in a hotel in Seattle, extra meals, extra day of boarding for my dog, extra day of airport parking.
Not sure I will be flying with Alaska airlines again.
