First, I'll start by admitting that I got to the airport later than I shoul've, but the 2 1/2 hr. drive from Dodge City, KS to Wichita took over 3 hrs. due to fog. I tried to self check at 5:30 for a 6:00 flight. The machine tells me I'm too late but, for a mere $75, I can get on the next flight. Wanting to get home and see my wife, I pay it. I got to the gate and my original flight was still boarding. I asked the gate agent if there are any seats available and I said that I wouldn't even make a stink over the $75. He told me that a was seat available, but that I would have to pay a $50 standby fee...for the stinkin'seat I already bought. I passed on the wonderful opportunity and opted to get to town an hour and a half later. Now, my 7:18 is delayed until 10:30. Everyone, fly Frontier...Continental has ruined United.
