Stolen personal items - Malev Hungarian Airlines
My wife and I flew with Malev from Kiev to Dublin (via Budapest) last Monday (the 25th of July). We had a long stopover in Budapest, because of a three-hour delay in our departure to Dublin.
We collected our luggage in Dublin and went home. Two days later, when we unpacked, my wife saw that all her gold jewellery had been stolen from her suitcase. We are sure it was stolen by baggage handlers in Budapest who X-rayed and scanned our items without our permission. Malev's attitude has not been very helpful, and they say they are not to blame, even though they employ their own baggage handlers. This could have happened anywhere, and we have learned that if you have anything valuable, carry it with you and keep it in your hand luggage. And if you have a grievance with an airline, do not be surprised if they take no action. |
