Non EU airline but departing from an EU airport (LHR) and through ticketed to final destination where we arrived 12 hours late.
Seems an obvious case for €600 compensation each but Etihad says no and offers only 20k miles. Etihad writes: Please allow me to explain that, your outbound journey consisted of 2 flights, EY18 from London to Abu Dhabi and EY404 from Abu Dhabi to Bangkok. To be considered for EC compensation, your delay had to be on your flight EY18; departing from an EU country. Although this was a “through” ticket, the connecting and delayed flight EY404 was not departing from an EU country, and therefore you are not entitled to compensation under the EC regulation. I think we are entitled. Any views ? |
