Most airlines have this policy - "TICKETS ARE NON-TRANSFERRABLE". Southwest DOES allow ticket transferability especially if the original passenger can't use the ticket anymore. That's why most people prefer SW because they're too lax on their policies. In this case, it's unfair on your part but you cannot take the blame on SW 'coz your friend knew that you paid for the ticket. You owned it.

Bottomline... it's your friend's fault and not the airline. You cannot expect SW to do something about it 'coz it's acceptable in their policy.

What I can suggest? Ask your friend to give you back your money... If she won't do it, bring this to court. Hope this helps!
