airberlin - unaccompanied minor service = dreadful
Airberlin and unaccompanied children........ Awful
four months ago i booked an unaccompanied minor flight, as stated in the agreement this is a contract between airberlin and me, i pay 4o euros each way and they chaperone my child onto the plane, papers are signed by crew and when destination is reached chaperone will collect child from crew, papers are signed and the the child is brought to me! Sounds good! Only on my sons flight, when he landed at dusseldorf airport, there was no chaperone, and he was told to get off the plane by a steward...... Albeit that papers were signed on his arrival at the plane. Strange that the steward/ess didnt think it was odd that there was no chaperone to collect him...... Maybe it was because it was late at night and they wanted to get home and didnt care about my 13 year old son being left in a airport in a foreign country where he did not speak the language!!! I have been waiting for four months now for some response to my complaint. Around thirty phone calls, all have been to no avail as apparently there is no one to talk to in customer service, around 2o emails, with one response....... That they would pay back the 40 euros.... And give me a gesture of 100 euros of my next flight. That is all very well, and thanks for refunding the 40 euros, but i am not happy with this. I want to know how this happened. My son was scared and frightened. It totally ruined his visit to me. I think it is disgusting that they think it is ok to tell me what is going to happen without any negotiation or discussion. I have been told that someone will be contacting me and i have heard nothing. I have spoken to other friends who work for other airlines and they are amazed at the disgusting way i have been treated. We are not talking about lost luggage or a late flight here. We are talking about my son being left in dusseldorf airport at 11pm in the evening alone........... Anything could have happened to him........ Luckily nothing did, but i personally think that is not the point here. All i want is to actually talk to someone from airberlin....... I want to know how this could have happened and what is being done about it. I find it very hard to believe that a company such as airberlin has not one person in authority who can take five minutes to call me and talk to me about this....... I have given them my mumber, my case number, i have written to them via post and email, i have called many times, and i must say to my expense, just to be told that there is no way of me talking to someone.... Although there are people who answer the phones.... Very odd. I think at least i am owed that. Would love to know what people out there think about this and what i should do??? I am in a very hard and tricky situation as i need tp book again for my son to come over.......... Comments, views, ideas all welcomed....... Adrian a very unhappy dad!
