Thumbs down Qantas Airlines Complaint from an Australian

On the 24th December my husband flew from Sydney Australia to Dallas Texas a flight he has taken many many times, but this time with Qantas for the first time. Prior he had used several other airlines and had only purchased a one way ticket as he was not sure of his next destination. However at the check-in desk at Qantas he was informed that he needed a return as well even though he was not actually returning to Australia from the States. We had to book said ticket at a ridiculously high price at the airport so he could fly. The airline blamed the US government but admitted they were the only airline imposing this regulation. This was expensive and completely unnecessary and I hate to say as an Australian that I would never fly Qantas again. I would also recommend anyone else flying from Australia to the States to avoid Qantas at any cost. Shame on them for using this as a ruse to gain extra sales. They would be better off to pay more attention to the condition of the aircraft than pedantic attention to rules.
