Everything about UNited is unprofessional, causes delays up to and over 24 hours, stress, and frustration. Even the airport employees say United is THE WORST AND TO NEVER FLY IT AGAIN.
Only IF YOU WANT A HEADACHE AND TO SLEEP IN AN AIRPORT CHAIR OVERNIGHT WOULD i BOOK THROUGH united. On this last flight I even booked our family through an agent on the phone- which took over an hour, and she barely spoke English. Then months later at the airport our 2 children's tickets were not booked, and we paid an additional $1600 to get them new tickets. Randomly our return flight was canceled two hours before- saying weather- yet no other flight was canceled. An agent said he couldn't help us and the waiting line to a super visor was long. Yet he couldn't tell how long- he just wanted to get me off the phone. We made it the first leg on another airline, then next leg on United was canceled (the only one for mechanical reasons), 1/2 hour before. Out of luck, we were given vouchers for a dirty hotel out side of Phila, but upon showing up with 2 children I was told the vouchers had an incorrect number- the hotel out side of phila smelled like urine and loitered with loosers. Out of luck and stressed out even further. Why is this AIRLINE STILL IN BUSINESS? WHAT MORE CAN I DO TO TELL EVERYONE, BESIDES WRITE LETTERS TO MY LOCAL NEWSPAPER, TELL everyone I know? EVEN THE VOUCHERS THEY GAVE ME LAST YEAR AFTER SELLING OUR TICKETS UNDERNEATH US WERE NOT REFUNDED WERE NOT HONORED on this trip. That is a total of $1800 out just on tickets- plus expenses and lack of work once again and activities i've paid for my children they are missing by staying an extra day in limbo. NEXT UP, A CALL TO MY LAWYER- this airline is PROBABLY DRUG TRAFFICKERS JUST POSING TO CARRY PEOPLE. |

On April 20th/2012 I contact my travel agent asking her about a ticket for my son to be able to travel from USA to Bulgaria with escort service.
She told me that United and Lufthansa work together and they offer this service. Just in case I called both companies and asked the EXPLICITLY that my reservation is with United and Lufthansa flights. Both customer support agent confirm that they will provide the service. And my travel agent talked with them also and got the same confirmation. I bought the ticket on April 23st. A week before the flight (June 24th) I call to pay the fee for the service and the UA/LH agents told me that the contract between the is no longer valid and they will not be able to provide the service (new contract March 31st 2012) . During this week my travel agent tried to find me a open spots in the next flight but no success. There was another options for different dates (2 weeks different) and I had to pay additional $1000. For this reason I went to the airport to talk directly with the UA/LH. I could not give you the names, but on Lufthansa desk a lady told me that nothing wrong with my ticket and the reservation and if I pay the fee to UA they will transfer my son from one gate to the other for the next flight to Sofia. I went back to UA supervisor and she told me - "OK, if Lufthansa can do it we can also. Go pay the fee ... ". I waited on the line 50 minutes and this part was BAD: -The UA agent called another supervisor that was so rood ... he even did not want to listen any of my explanation. I was willing to pay the fee if they can transfer my son ticket from UA flight to Lutfhansa flight (the airport agent said that they have open sports). He just said - "Talked with your agent ... " But the agent do NOT see the open sits ... The ticket is not refundable ... my agent will try to return me something as a credit, but can be use only for my son, within a year and only travel internationally ... The questions are: - How the company sold this thicket to a minor knowing that he does not have adult with him and they could not provide the service? - How difficult was to change the ticket from Chicago to Frankfurt to be on Lufthansa flight? - If they no longer have a contract they should at least take care for the customers within some interval and do something to be able to cover the service. - Who made a mistake? Not me, and why I have to pay for somebody that is not doing the job accurate? - I payed for this ticket $1200 and they will not return anything ... I was devastated and could not trust anymore these two companies. I will try to avoid as much as I can UA/LH services and I will post and told my friends to do the same. This is not a good way to do the business and tread the people like this. |

If the facts are related here are true, this ticket is refundable. You should write to the DOT and your local State Attorney Generals office. The airline cannot sell you a service and then, when the service is not longer available, state that the ticket is non-refundable. You were advised that this service was available at the time of booking right?
One question, why didn't you pay for the Unaccompanied Minor assistance programme at the time you bought the ticket. This would have "locked in" your entitlement to this ticket. However, I think you should have a full refund under these circumstances and anything less is unacceptable. |

United will honor the tickets, but with such frustration and extra time on my behalf. Although I do not wish to pay for another ticket myself to accompany my children.
The Customer Service Agent hung up the telephone on me after 47 minutes, when I told her calmly that I didn't believe the excuse that each of the three flights I had were cancelled due to weather. There was no weather on the entire US weather map, it was sunny at each location, and no other flights on the departure board were cancelled. United needs to at least admit the lack of service and close shop if they can't deliver. |
