I am glad to have come across this site. This misplaced luggage issue has irritated me for a long time. Mexicana dealt with the one case of my lost luggage issue but AA had initially handled the luggage that ultimately got lost in JFK. See email hereunder.

The second case: on 8/9 June 2010 I had the honour of again flying to the states via London to the USA. In London (AA87), whilst still at the airport I was approached when I seated in my airplane seat by ground staff and asked to verify my luggage tag details. I was given no explanation. From that moment on, I became nervous about my luggage actually arriving at my final destination in Orlando, Florida (AA1428). Needless to say, it did not arrive and I had to report to the AA luggage desk (Ref: TQMMJG).

Once again, I left to wonder around in the heat of the Florida summer with my winter clothes. My luggage was found and supposed to be returned to my hotel at 12h00 on 12 Jun 10 but was only returned at 19h00 (7 hours late). AA did not even bother to provide an explanation for the delay or put any speed into delivering it to me. This is the second time in 6 months that AA had lost my luggage.

I really believe that I need to be compensated for this injustice.

In reference to my email of 30 December 2009.

To date, I have not even received a response from your office. I am very disappointed with the service received from your airline.

To date, almost all the customer service numbers (and fax numbers) provided by you has been not answered, or are not available (at all times of the day, even during the week). Furthermore, it would seem that you do not answer your emails either.

Can you please indicate how I am supposed to submit my claims to you? I need a claim form to complete.

If Mexicana Airlines is the customer centred airline it claims to be, then this would be a good point to start proving that.

Dear Sir/Madam,

On 10 December 2009 my luggage from South African Airways was handed over in JFK airport by me to AA staff for delivery to Mexico City. (AA8172 operated by Mexicana).

The luggage did not arrive in Mexico City. It was reported in Mexico City to Mexicana staff who indicated that it would be escalated to AA. Until my departure from Mexico on 23 Dec I was given the run around by Mexicana and I had the world holiday ever. No summer clothes, no luggage and not being able to buy more clothes because I was not sure if my luggage would be returned and the resultant luggage weight over-problem. Needless to say that I als did not have winter clothes for the balance of my stay in the USA.

Numerous attempts to have it returned, proved futile.

On the morning 29 Dec, my luggage was returned to me in South Windsor, CT, USA by FedEX. No explanation was provided as to reason for my delayed luggage for a period of over three weeks.

Please note that during the interim period I have to replace many of my possessions. I needed clothing for warm as well as cold weather conditions.

Please note that this delayed luggage has implication in terms of cost and excess baggage weight for Mexicana.

Please provide me details as to how I can proceed with my claim in this regard.
