Default Cathy Pacific Rudeness

Our flight from LAX to Hong Kong was delayed 55 mins. because there was no plane at our gate. We move to new gate and board. The pilot say's he will try to make up the 55 mins. on the way to Hong Kong. We land in Hong Kong and pilot say's were still 55 mins. late. We have less than a hour to get off the plane and go through customs & security and get to our gate which is all the way on the other side of the airport. Three of our friends run to make flight and just make it, but not their luggage. I'm a big guy and the heat and the distance is to much for me to run. When my wife and I get to gate the lady say's we been calling you and pilot will not open the plane door to let us on. The plane still has the walkway attached. I say how could we hear you pageing us when were still on the other side of airport; She say's we still had enough time to make the plane and that it's our fault. VERY RUDE lady just keeps saying it's our fault. We have to get a hotel that night at airport so we can get flight next day. They will not pay for our hotel that night even when it's there fault for plane leaving 55 mins. late out of LAX. Also lost the payment on hotel that night in Cebu that was paid in advance for. The flight attendants on the plane were great people. I will never fly CATHY PACIFIC again!!!!

I've personally found CX to be one of the very best airlines in terms of customer service. Just so you are aware, the next time you have a tight connection at HKG, you can ask the nearest CX gate rep to call over the electric airport cart. For a nominal fee, it will whisk you to Customs ahead of everyone else. Also, if you fly to HKG frequently consider getting an HKIA Frequent Visitor Card. You won't even have to speak with a Customs agent using this method in a majority of instances.

In any case, I would appeal to Cathay with a polite, typewritten letter requesting remuneration for your hotel stay and an apology. Send a copy to headquarters in Hong Kong and the local LAX office. They may very well oblige. In my own experience, CX beats all the alternative airlines serving Hong Kong hands down.

Thank you for information on trouble at Hong Kong airport! What bothered me was we meet and American in Philippines who flew the same flight 2 weels before and had the same problem arriving late and he said Cathy Pacific put him and wife up for the night at hotel and paid for their food. That's why I conplained to airline. They still said it was our fault but would send us 2 voucher for $25.00 each for future trip on Cathy Pacific. Seeing I would not be flying them again I sent tham back. How is it that they paid for one person who missed the same flight and they would'nt pay for ours? We did order the electric golf cart and it took 30 minutes to get one because we had to exchange our money before we could get one and the people ahead of us. CAthy was horrible to me and when I emailed a polite email they basically told me to shut up.
