I have a flight from Philadelphia(PHL) to Delhi(DEL) via Newark(EWR).
They gave me two flights 1 from PHL to EWR and next from EWR to DEL. After I took this flight, I realized I can reach EWR easily, so I called Continental and asked them if I can board from EWR directly--If they want they can give me my money back of PHL to EWR or if not just transfer me to EWR and sell the extra ticket to someone else. Guess what, I was asked to pay money to change the ticket, holy cow!! These duffers could have easily made more money by selling the PHL--EWR ticket to someone else and made me a happy loyal customer. And now--I am never going to fly continental again!! continental sucks--and sucks big time U. Seth Booking No--BWEC08 24th Sept PHL--EWR--DEL |

A ticket is a "contract". Read every airlines "contract of carriage" on their website so you can get an idea of what is covered and what is not. All airlines consider a change of ticket a breach of contract. It really doesn't matter whether or not they could re-sell a flight on your ticket. If you violate your contract they will nail you. Plain and simple. The only way to avoid that is to buy a fully flexible, changeable ticket, which can cost 10 to 20 times more than a "discount" ticket.
